Unveiling an Unusual Steam Demo: Guiding a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have found a variety of interesting independent titles. However, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game includes a hero that is literally a piece of poop trying to navigate to a commode. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."

Player controls is simple: just use a one button to leap. In one hundred fifty levels, battle boss fights and access a store to buy customizations for your dung hero.

Plan your actions with caution, as a mistake forces restarting the level. Bounce on floating orbs to propel your character to new heights, cross fragile platforms, and interact with buttons to unlock hidden paths. Earn currency to purchase challenging stages in which the action intensifies.

Graphically, the demo features eye-catching stages and an amazing music score. The simple graphics of shifting abstract forms may remind fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

Even though hard to recall similar titles where you play as a dung character, gaming frequently incorporated toilet humor. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can make explosives from character droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as fertilizer. And of course, such content appears extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already garnered notable awards, including taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is accessible at present on Steam, with the full game planned to launch on PC on November 19.
